My first post for 2011 is published on May 3rd 2011! 4 months late! What happened? I intend to publish my prophecies each year on December, before the new year but apparently for 2011, it was not in the cards so to speak!

The year has been so busy professionally that this blog was put on the back burner regretfully. And of course I missed the major events that rock our world such as the meltdown and the tsunami in Japan, the fateful demise of Bin Laden and the popular revolutions taking place in North Africa and the Middle East.

So my prophecies for the rest of the year are going to feel dull and without sparkles in contrast to those latest developments; I feel cheated because I would have love to be able to pinpoint some of them and take the credit…Again it was not meant to be.

As usual, because my audience is interested in the U.S. economy for various reasons, I will tackle this very important subject. But as far as I can tell, 2011 is going to be a lot more quiet than its first 4 months!

So let’s get started.

U.S. ECONOMY FROM MAY TO DECEMBER 2011

The debt ceiling will be raised to avoid a major meltdown but expect the debate to be heated to say the least. I don’t see the Government making any major changes in its direction which let me to fear we may pay the price of that lack of reform down the road…

The Real Estate market is uneven in its projection: in some areas the bottom has been reached and signs of better days are clearly shown; that trend will continue during the rest of the year. However in other geographic areas, I foresee a slight deep that will drive the prices even lower before the year ends. Once this down takes place, then we will have reached the bottom of the pan. At that point, I believe we will start to see a positive change but that will be in 2012.

The Job market won’t pick up significantly until October and I think the numbers for the last 3 months of the year will look good and reassuring for a lot of Americans. An acceleration of job creations will take place by that time.

The Stock Market, Wall Street  is still unreliable despite the recent enthusiasm and that means we are still dancing the two-step forward, one step backward… Watch out and be wise!  By mid-summer we will enter a new phase that will be marked by more stability and steady growth, which will be reflected in the market. Again I think the last 3 months of the year could be very good for investors.

The U.S. Dollar will experience some serious issues shortly. Now I don’t know if the currency will be readjusted or that it will go through a major storm but June and July aren’t fun for our green symbol. Once we pass the summer, the dollar will then go steady and get even stronger by the end of the year.

MAJOR DISASTERS IN THE WORLD (MAY TO DECEMBER)

The big events are behind us at this point in time. Happily I can write that I don’t expect major catastrophes to take place til we end the year. Outside of more turmoil with regimes that may cut ties with the U.S. or countries in the middle of revolutionary changes, we can rest assured that nothing huge will fall from the sky!

The weather is changing and with it, tornadoes get bigger and more devastating in their paths! The recent fatalities in the U.S. corridor remind us that we have to expect more of those occurrences. I am sure I will have a lot to say about those alterations in our Earth conditions for 2012. Please remind me not to be late this time!

Why? because I feel that there are some major events cooking right now that will come to the surface next year… They are already in the making but underneath or hidden. Once it is apparent, when we look back, we will understand why I was saying it.

So as you can read, the rest of the year is not as dramatic as we started it. It does not mean that the events that took place already are concluded. They are still unfolding and I expect the Middle East and North Africa to be the center of attention for the remaining months.

I am looking forward to unveil 2012 to be honest with you. From a pure predictive perspective, I expect it to be very active. However as I have told so many people, I expect the 2012 Mayan showdown to be another Y2K and nothing more. But with an alignment of several planets and its effects on our blue planet, natural disasters and larger than life phenomena are to be expected. So tune in a few months when I unveil the year with you!

The Stock market will continue to gain while it remains unstable (loss/gain) until we pass the summer (two steps forward, one step backward). Some news during the spring 2010 about some financial personalities involved in scandals will create concerns again and shake up the public trust regarding financial institutions, big corporate power and the government ability to police unethical practices (I feel we may hear about the automobile industry again!). Nevertheless the stock market seems to experience a fast and positive turn around in the course of 2010 which will reassure a lot of investors and the public in general.

New economical data will point to a slow but clearer recovery during the first part of the year however the job data won’t be looking much better than where we are now. Stopping job losses won’t make the general people more optimistic. It is going to take October 2010 to see a change of mood, a distinct sense that the U.S. economy is indeed rebouncing with a brighter 2011 to make everyone spend again and get the machine going.

THE U.S. REAL ESTATE MARKET FOR 2010.

Home sales will increase significantly in 2010 but those transactions will  show new emerging, future hot R.E. markets that will create a new properous momentum, however different to the past R.E boom. Since not all markets will be affected in the positive, I need to be specific as this may be great opportunities for those of you who want to invest:

1. smaller houses, condos and townhomes will be the next hot market particularly if they are located in cute neighborhood served by small boutique shops and services and if they are reasonably priced. Think nice downtowns, easy access, mass transportation and mixed used areas. Expensive lifestyle metropolis may not benefit from this renewal if they don’t offer affordable living solutions! Cheaper states that have quaint cities and innovative lifestyle solutions will benefit the most…
2. larger houses, isolated properties, under-served locations will be left out of that nice upswing.
3. large commercial properties in general will not benefit from the positive turn.
4. mixed used commercial lots and well positioned commercial properties will become sought-after investments.

This is not just a short term trend. This will be the beginning of several years of expansion and only in some parts of the country, in cities that provide the ideal environment to attract those buyers (think a quaint and well thought city planning). People will buy cheaper, smaller and more convenient (walking, biking distance).

Note for R.E. professionals: I will strongly suggest that you position yourself to take advantage of this new wave of prosperity and particularly if you are right now focusing on the markets that I believe will stay on the flat line. You do not want to be left out!

For anyone: be prepared to hold on to your property for another 6 to 8 years before making a profitable sale! If you are going to invest in R.E., think about getting into mixed used market and pay attention to the location (how it looks and the services/stores). Don’t buy big (unless you have 10 kids!) and don’t buy a large estate in the country (unless you can deal with the fact that you won’t be selling it easily afterward!).

Predicting a new tsunami in the Thailand region is not a great accomplishment due to the area’s tendancy for attracting those devastations. Same is true for earthquakes in California (it rocks every day in the entertainment capital!) unless it is involving Los Angeles in a big way (see my earthquakes prediction for this area)!

So the only thing I am going to write in this chapter of world desasters for 2010 is what I believe will define that particular year, and in this case it will be one major health desaster:

I foresee a major situation (pandemic or epidemic of devastating consequences, leading to great numbers of deaths) by the end of spring or early summer in a familiar region of the world (possible up and coming country -somewhere in China or South America?) that will lead to quarantine and isolation (no travel by air or else) until the situation is under control. We may hear and see some shocking images on the news media and ‘desperation’ will be the key word.  Help will be late to arrive, supplies won’t be enough etc…I hope I am wrong…

Since we have been having more stress here in California about earthquakes, I am posting the original prophecy (inserted in 2009 prophecies) in 2010 (as a reminder) as this is the only prophecy meant to happen in a couple of years or so.

Mr. Woods will take a long break of about 5 months, away from the media and golf to deal with his marriage and family. His wife is moving away to another country and the separation is therefore a fact! A lot of ressentments there but I don’t see a divorce in 2010 as both of them want to take it slow and not rush into things.

I don’t see him loosing any sponsors beside the ones that may make a move in the next few weeks (It has already started!). Beyond that timeframe, his corporate supports will stand by him. Tiger is not finished! By summer he will be back onto the golf tour and he will start his winnings by the fall. The man is capable to get back into his game and to regroup. Thus his earnings will peak again by the last 3 months of the year and Tiger will regain his leading position. However it may take a bit longer for the public to forget his indiscretions but even this shall pass as well…

I won’t be surprised if there are talks of Tiger having issues with sexual addictions and him getting into some form of therapy to make amend (although very discreetly and we may found out only after he went). He still has many years ahead of him as a champion and his decision to take a break won’t affect the big picture.

As of 01/20/2010: there has been no new bombshell lately related to sponsors dropping Tiger Woods. But just fresh from Earthlink News Banners, my prediction is coming to pass. In short the article confirms that Tigers is undergoing a sexual addiction rehab program called “Gentle Path” in Hattiesburg, Miss - at the Pine Grove Behavioral Health and Addiction Services.

Personal note: as much as I saw no rushed divorce for 2010, this separation was worked out very carefully and it probably explains the smoothness of it. Usually this kind of divorce can take quite awhile, in this case those two individuals did it quietly for the sake of the children!

It is this time of the year again, when we are looking ahead for a new beginning as we are about to enter 2010 in less than 3 weeks. I am happy to share again with you my insights, for what I believe we can expect regarding the U.S. economy, the Real Estate market and Wall Street.

My predictions for 2009 have been overall quite accurate! My take on Apple, my view on the way the economy will move during the year were right on. However no one can be right on for everything! It is simply impossible as things can change and people make sometimes significant moves that can alter the course of certain events. And I will say it is good news that we can change things…sometimes.

We found out nearly a year later that we were indeed in a recession during that period and that the Bush administration denied the facts in order to keep up the appearance.

Today as I write this post, we are in January 2009, I say: “we are in a depression!” Just drive along Ventura Blvd in the San Fernando valley, and you will see every 2 or 3 doors, a business going “out of ” or a “for lease” sign.

Stores are hurting badly. I have a very flexible schedule so going to stores at any time of the day or night is not uncommon for me. Boy! Nobody in those places usually filled with shoppers. Come on this is Los Angeles I am talking about! Not somewhere in the middle of the desert…

Of course, we are not hearing ‘depression’ on TV. Why? because no one really knows what is going on. Most people aren’t savvy in economy and the pros have lost their academic perspectives since this ‘depression’ is not the same than 70 years ago. However we are all paying the price for it!

So what do you think? Recession or depression? hmmm…

I have posted some predictions on the U.S. economy for 2009 and on Mr. Obama. Things can change depending on policies and decisions made by the White House. But it is clear that all the money used to correct the situation won’t address the upcoming retirement of all baby boomers and the re-payment of this unprecedent financial rescue.

With Pluto now in Capricorn (the last time it happened it lead to the American Revolution!), it is clear we are not going to recapture what this country used to have. Furthermore I believe that capitalism died officially in October 2008, when the Bush government took partial ownership of financial institutions. As we all witness the failure of communism and the fall of the Berlin wall 20 years ago, we just went through a similar process with the capitalism ideology. Basically what the Bush administration did was nothing short of socialism.

Anyway, Pluton in Capricorn is the transformer of established systems. It may come as a revolution or as a collapse. Since we are just at the beginning of the process, you can be sure that there is more to come our way. So no matter what, the U.S. will have to re-invent itself and we may have to force that change upon our goverment and leaders…

I haven’t look into the U.S. long range meaning I just stopped at this year 2009 but if you are interested in seeing  my insights on the future of this country, please let me know.

Furthermore expect some ‘revolution’ in the way we travel from one point to another, our understanding of the Universe and our place within our solar system as well as our true origins (Feb 26, 2009).
